Delve into the art of water etching to enhance your ceramic work. In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore different ways of applying hot wax to greenware to unique textural effects. Shannon will share her personal approach, using tools from her Ukrainian heritage to develop beautiful patterns and textures. These traditional tools and techniques will offer you a fresh way to elevate your ceramic craft.

Format:
1-day workshop, March 1st, 11am–4pm
What’s included for students:

2 cups, 1 dish, 1 tile provided

All wax, tools, and materials provided
Firing:
Firing of the provided pieces is included
Students are welcome to bring their own bone-dry work to decorate, but firing of outside pieces is not included.
Students may bring (optional):

A few bone-dry cups, mugs, or vessels (porcelain works best!)

Underglazes and/or slips
-
Brushes they don’t mind getting waxy

Apron and notebook
We will provide all wax-related tools and materials (wax pans, beeswax, Gulf wax, kistkas, candles, newspaper, and a small selection of slips/underglazes for testing)
