Ready to go bigger without fighting your clay? In this hands-on workshop, ceramic artist Andy Rangel shares alternative techniques for throwing large forms with more control, efficiency, and less strain on your body. This class is designed for potters who are comfortable on the wheel and looking to scale up their work using smart, repeatable methods.
You’ll learn approaches to centering and opening larger amounts of clay, strategies for building height, and techniques that help prevent collapse and cracking. Andy will also cover workflow tips used in professional studios to make large-scale throwing more consistent and approachable.
All participants will receive guided instruction and individualized feedback throughout the session. 25 lbs of clay will be given to each student - you will be able to take all of the clay home with you. This includes any pieces you want to keep. We will not be firing anything. This workshop is meant to learn skills not leave with a finished piece.
This is an intimate class with only 6 spots available to ensure plenty of one-on-one time.
Who it’s for: Intermediate to advanced wheel throwers
Focus: Large-scale pottery, wheel throwing techniques, ceramics skill building
Spots are limited and tend to fill quickly.
Please note: Due to the nature of traveling instructors, all workshop bookings are final - no refunds or transfers.
